Walkerville North Beach is the closest beach to Jandi and is located within walking distance, about a 25-minute walk. If you don't like walking up hill, it's best to drive down and park along the foreshore rather than walk as the trip back can be painful (especially with young children!). It's a short and beautiful drive down the cliff through a temperate rainforest. Please be aware, as echidnas and wombats are often found on this road. Walkerville North is very rocky. It has great rock pools to explore which are a hit with young kids. Sand shoes are a good idea if you have them, there are a few pairs of kids sand shoes in the laundry at Jandi if you would like to use them. There is a beached swimming area near the caravan park as well as one at the end of the road near where the boats launch. Cars can drive on the sand to launch boats here, make sure when you put your towels down that they are not in the way of the launching boats. Walkerville Beaches are best experienced at low tide, at high tide there is often minimal sand. These beaches, while quite safe, are not patrolled at all, so please take care. When the waters are calm there is good snorkeling around the rocks, there are snorkels provided in the laundry of Jandi. We suggest washing them with warm soapy water before and after use. There is a toilet block at Walkerville North Beach, it is also a nice walk up to the caravan park to get fish and chips or ice creams from the kiosk (when it is open) A public electric BBQ and tables are located next to the caravan park as well as half way down the beach. There is no drinkable water at Walkerville Beach so we suggest you bring your own. There is usually good phone reception at Walkerville beach.
