City Park Hockey Stadium

A surprising little oasis of natural forest in the middle of the city. There are hundreds of trees and birds, and tame Sykes’ monkeys that will even come and sit on your shoulder. The park is run by a conservation organisation called Nature Kenya, which offers guided tours and bird walks that I like to join. Next door to the park is Kenya’s biggest vegetable market, filled with produce from every corner of the country. There’s a lot of exotic fruit and veg here to cater to different local communities—Chinese vegetables, for example. It’s worth popping in for a wander around to soak up the atmosphere.
