Big Qualicum Fish Hatchery is a well laid out hatchery. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. When the salmon are spawning and heading up river they may viewed through a underground viewing station. Great experience for young and seasoned folk. You are able to watch salmon in the Big Qualicum River . Cross the bridge and walk along the banks on a gravel road. Watch for bears as they are there for food

This is up the road from us and while there aren't always tours of the hatchery, we primarily come here for the hikes! This place has TONS of trails and most of them are easy walking. There is an amazing trail that you can bike/stroller/walk on that goes ALL the way to Horne Lake. Coming here is worth packing a picnic for.
