In winter (January and February), the Rideau canal becomes the longest outdoor ice rink in the world, with an 8 km long skateable surface, right downtown Ottawa. An amazing experience.

Ottawa is home to the largest skating rink in the world! If skating isn't your thing, there are also ice carvings and many other activities.

Ottawa is about 45 minutes north of us. If you are staying for any length of time and happen to be here during Winterlude, it's well worth the drive.
