Sharing below my favourite places for tapas and dinner in the area, many are mostly visited by locals so highly recommended for a true immersion into the local people and culture.
Excellent small fish and seafood restaurant serving daily catch, a bit pricier then others on the promenade but well worth it. Make sure you get a table on the terrace onto the beach. Sardines grilled on a stick on open fire are an all time winner. You can also order them while at the beach and take them home for lunch. Great for families as there is a playground in the sand close by

They will tell you the catch of the day and any recommendations of the day but there is also a menu to choose from. Best to order tapas or medias raciones (half portions) to try as many different dishes as possible. That is the beauty of Spain. In summer and on weekends try to get there early for a table, early as in Spanish-early so at around 8-9pm. In winter only open for lunch.

At the end the waiter will add up your dishes and this is what you pay. An opportunity to dive into loud screaming and busy waiters on the open air terrace right on the beach. Mercado Atarazañas is great on a Saturday morning to buy your fresh fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables. It is also great for people watching while sipping some lovely wine or vermouth along with some gorgeous tapas.

Parks & Nature
Lovely walk either through the tunnels (lit all night) or along the cliff walk, most recommended at sunrise or sunset. this used to be the trainline between Malaga and Nerja and is now a promenade linking La Cala del Moral with the town of Rincon de la Victoria and its long Paseo Maritimo promenade.
For your morning run you have got 10km of traffic free paseo maritimo promenade between La Cala and Rincon de La Victoria. There are some exercise stations along the way also.

For your morning run you have got 10km of traffic free paseo maritimo promenade between La Cala and Rincon de La Victoria. There are some exercise stations along the way also.

El Torcal, an natural park of outstanding beauty with amazing views over the entire coast.there are several hiking loops you can choose from, some of which fairly easy with kids and with totally rewarding views. Best on a clear autumn, winter or spring day.

For a good night out your best bet is Malaga old town with its great selection of tapas restaurants and bars. Try bar hopping like the locals do and discover what Malaga by night is all about. Note that things kick off fairly late
