This area of Asheville, known as RAD, is the perfect place to explore the artistic side of Asheville. There are art galleries, cafes and some restaurants. This up-and-coming area hosts many local artists' studios. You'll notice the slow transformation of the old factories and warehouses along the French Broad River into studios for all mediums, including steel, paint, pottery, and textile art.

River Arts District (RAD) is a long neighborhood along the French Broad River. In between Downtown and West Asheville, this neighborhood is packed with galleries, breweries, and a smattering of interesting food spots.
