Dive bar. Back patio has a strange game called root ball. Never played but people seems to enjoy it. Great Mexican food truck in front! Cash only! $1 membership required.

You will find all the locals there! Keep in mind it is a private club, but its supper easy to be a member.

Great hole-in-the-wall dive bar where you can play their game, "Root Ball", which is a mix of Bacci Ball and Horseshoe. Very close!

I couldn't really find the right category for the Root Bar. It's not a restaurant, and I prefer to go in late afternoon not at night, so I am putting it here. We affectionally call this our nearby "dive bar." Not fancy at ALL, in fact the opposite. But they have a pool table, are very friendly, AND in the back they play Root Ball, which is a bit like bocce ball. The Los Tacotes Food Truck is usually parked in the front, and they serve up authentic Mexican burritos (not all the rice and beans, it's all about the meat and vegies and peppers). The pork tacos are delish. Root Bar kindly allows patrons to come inside with their food truck goodies, and order up a cold brew.

The reason I recommend this place is because of the excellent food truck that is usually parked there. Best tacos I’ve had in Asheville.
