More barbecue to know in the OC Longtime OC barbecue operator Javier Gomez has opened up his first brick and mortar restaurant location in Anaheim, years after starting on the catering and farmers market circuit with Texas-style slow-cooked meat. The new location, which opened on January 14, lands at the Anaheim MAKE property across from the Packing District. Gomez has become something of a folk hero in the ad hoc barbecue scene in Orange County, playing to long weekly lines of fans who show up at any of his stops. He’s also often the first in conversation when discussing quality barbecue in greater Orange County, a scene that is still coming together with its own growing underground smoked meat movement. Expect brisket, beef ribs, chicken, and links, with lunch hours only to start.
