I'll start by saying that I'm not french I've been to Paris only twice but I think this place has decent french food. Its a touch overpriced but I'll still recommend the place because its close to the house.

European (started in Belgium) chain cafe. Great for breakfast and brunch. Coffee is excellent. Slightly pricey but food is good.
If you want something that's more "value" go the the Corner Bakery on ventura. Food is not as good though.

Southern California landmark. Guests should go to the 3rd Street promenade which about a 2 blocks from the pier.
There is also an excellent shopping mall on 3rd Street Promenade (Nordstrom's)

Its definitely touristy but I think its still worth going. Big Ben in London and the Eiffel tower in Paris are tourist landmarks but its still worth going.
Don't go by yourself at night because the place is a little sketchy. You will NOT see any move stars here.
In fact you will likely see more move stars eating at some of the restaurants on Ventura Blvd near the home.
Very good sushi restaurant called "Katsuya" next the the Pantages theater. Somewhat pricey but its a nice treat.
Grab a cocktail at the Hotel Roosevelt like the old stars.
