Zipolite is best known as being Mexico’s first and only legal public nude beach and for retaining much of the hippie culture that made it notable in the 1970s. The beach is currently popular with foreign tourists, especially backpackers, who stay in one of the many rustic cabins or camping spaces that line the beach.

A beautiful beach with amazing restaurants. And one of the few clothing optional beaches in all of Mexico…Only 12 minute drive from Casa Roni.

Crowded and festive market, specially on Mondays. You can find a variety of seasonal fresh produce from the region. Eating in the small tents is authentic and tasty. Experience local traditional culture first hand

Restaurants…

During high season, restaurants tend to get very busy. There are great restaurants in Zipolite, Mazunte and San Agustinillo. We love: Mao Mao (Thai), Don Franco (Italian), Luz de Sol (Vegetarian and Vegan), La Providencia (French), El Navegante (Fish). And of course try the delicious local Mexican restaurants all around the area. Fish is fresh and plentiful.

Turtles!

Prime season is between July and January when Olive Ridley turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in mass nestings known as arribadas. An arribada or arrival event is declared when 1,000 turtles or more are nesting on the beach. An arribada can last five days and involve up to 90,000 turtles.
