Azucar is a Cuban-style coffee, bakery and cafe with a French twist. It is only a 10-15 minute walk from the Cottage.
Coffee, cookies, baked goods, desserts, cakes, and sandwiches are all good. My favorites include the raspberry passion fruit scone and the cubano sandwich (mwa!).

It houses over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species on 100 acres in the beautiful Balboa Park - a 1,200 acre urban forest and cultural park. This Zoo pioneered the concept of open-air, cage-less exhibits that re-create natural animal habitats.
Fun Fact: the Zoo is also a Botanical Garden - boasting an internationally prominent collection with more than 4,500 species of plants. Prized collections include orchids, cycads, fig trees, palms, and coral trees.
