Beaches
Point Roadknight is a sheltered beach with relatively low waves and usually no rips, making it the safest swimming beach in the area. There is good parking but it does get very busy during peak times. A small kiosk sells coffee, ice-cream and light snacks.
Point Roadknight is home to the threatened beach-nesting shorebird, the
Hooded Plover which you may see nesting in the rocks. I often walk this beach at low tide to Urquharts Bluff, approximately 1 hour each way.

Fairhaven is a short 15 minute drive, just the other side of Airey’s Inlet. This is the longest beach on the Surf Coast. It is a great beach for surfing and is recommended for experienced swimmers due to rips being common.

Lorne is a 30 minute drive away. It is a beautiful day out and the drive is just spectacular. Lorne beach is one of the most popular on the Surf Coast with a well-established foreshore reserve that separates the road and main street from the beach. The swimming and surfing here is fantastic with the ‘Pier to Pub’ swim held here each year.

The swimming and surfing here is fantastic with the ‘Pier to Pub’ swim held here each year.

Sightseeing
Anglesea Golf Club is just down the road and well worth a stop, whether you are an avid golfer or not. Anglesea Golf Club is home to around 300 Eastern Grey Kangaroos, which does make a day on the golf course a little interesting. The club offers kangaroo tours so you can get up close and personal (who knows, I could be your guide!) The bistro does some great meals and mini golf is available.
I am a keen golfer and play both Anglesea and Torquay Golf Clubs at least once per week. I’m happy to have a chat to you about either of the courses.

Eagle Rock ParadeSplit Point Lighthouse is a working lighthouse located only a short 15 minute drive away at Airey’s Inlet. This lighthouse was used in the popular TV show

The Great Ocean Road Drive is just spectacular with the surf coast to the left and the Otway Rain Forest to the right. The drive will take about 90 minutes to reach Apollo Bay where I highly recommend you try a Scallop Pie from the Apollo Bay Bakery.
The famous 12 Apostles are only 30 minutes further along. There is so much history and so many things to do along the Great Ocean Road.
