Things to Do in our Very Special Area
Sightseeing
Max Patch i s one of our very favorite places. It is about 8 miles away. We believe the 2-mile round trip hike offers some of the most scenic views in the country. There are lots of other connecting trails, including the Appalachian Trail, if you’d like to make a bigger day of it. To get there, turn right out of our driveway. In about 2.5 miles at the sign for Max Patch, turn right again. Finally, keep left onto the dirt road. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you see the parking lot. The hike departs from the parking lot and climbs for approximately one mile to the top of a mountain bald, where you are greeted with panoramic views.

Grayson and Tina have both thru-hiked the AT, so feel free to ask questions or for local hike recommendations!

Asheville is 35 miles away, and has some of the best food and beer in the country. We love to eat at Plant, White Duck Taco, and Chai Pani. French Broad Chocolate Lounge is a must. There are more breweries than your liver has room for. To get to Asheville, take a right out of the driveway on 209, and then continue onto Highway 63. In 27 miles, turn left onto Patton Ave. Continue straight into downtown Asheville.
