San Clemente’s “signature” palm-covered umbrellas line San Clemente State Beach (.2 miles away - walking distance), providing a sense of tropical serenity to your visit as you relax in the shade. Volleyball nets and fire-pits for roasting marshmallows add to this beach’s charm. Be sure to take a walk along the historic San Clemente Pier where you will see fishermen casting their nets and if lucky, you’ll spot some dolphins or whales. Grab some snacks while at the base of the pier or stop by Fisherman’s Restaurant. Great surfing at this beach is a given. Note: Dogs are not allowed on the beach or on the pier, but there are great walking trails for Fido all along the beach. While on the walking trail, keep your eyes open for hidden painted rocks, painted by local artists! You might also find these hidden gems in Downtown San Clemente, the quintessential California beach town!

Social distancing/COVID - What you need to know
Beaches have remained open throughout the summer months in San Clemente. Masks are a personal preference outdoors but required in many shops and all grocery stores. Most restaurants have expanded their seating capacity to allow for outdoor dining. Take-out is also readily available.

San Clemente is a fun place to walk around, so bring your tennis shoes (for the coastal nature trails and for the shops on Avenida Victoria and Avenida del Mar) as well as your flip flops for the beach. Summer days are warm, but the evenings can get chilly.
