What to do and see in Málaga

Active

One of the main attractions in the province. An 8 km long walkway, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge. Renovated and reopened in 2015, before that it was known as the world's most dangerous walkway. Make sure you book your visit in advance as it is one of the busiest attractions and in highest season demands to make a booking even weeks in advance. You can either come here with an excursion (usually around 50 € with transfers, entrance tickest and lunch included) or if you manage to get the general entrance tickets, you can come here by train from Maria Zambrano's railway station to El Chorro. When you arrive, take a bus right infront of the station, that will take you to the beginning of the trail (the train station is at the end of the trail which means you will have to take the bus only once to get to the beginning). There are restaurants in the beginning and at the end of the trail. I recommend to come earlier, bring your swim wear and enjoy the lake infront of the restaurant at the beginning of the trail (where the bus will bring you - El Kiosko). If you come by a car you can decide wether to leave the car at the beginning or at the end of the trail because you would anyway need to take the local bus to get to the other end. I recommend to leave the car in the beginning so after the hike you can return to the starting point that host a nice restaurant and a mini beach at the lake.

Best way to get to know the city is with a red double decker bus. They have few options but I recommend to take the "Experience" as it includes not just the hop-on-hop-off tour but also multiple entrance tickets to lot's of museums (Picasso, Music museum etc) a Flamenco show, a guided walking tour, a boat tour and they have collaborations with restaurants that give you free drinks and snacks with no strings attached. I recommend you to get a physical map from any tourist office or the routes stops to plan ahead because without good planning you might not have enough time to do most of it or you might miss important times frames. https://city-sightseeing.com/en/24/malaga

There are a lot of cinemas in Málaga but this one of the main chains in the country. You can check their website for what's on but keep in mind that in Spain everything is dubbed so if you want to see the movie with the original voice look for those that are marked with "VOSE" or "V.O."

Go for a walk among the port. This is actually an outdoor "shopping center" with not so many shops but its beautiful for walks or to sit down for a drink or a meal to enjoy the view.

Historical

A spot with few beautiful places around. If you want to check out the cathedral you can do it for an extra fee. I prefer to look at it from one of the rooftop bars from above

Sporting events

Málaga's football stadium. You can check the game dates and buy the tickets on www.malagacf.com. The stadium hosts an official store where you can purchase fan items during your visit (they have one also in the historic center). Remember also that during the matches you will find a lot of sellers and pop up stores around the stadium with cheap fan items that you can purchase right before the game.

If you become a Málaga CF fan, you have the official store right in the historic center. Another one is in the La Rosaleda stadium itself in case you are already going for a match and don't want to make a separate trip to the store. Also during the matches you will find a lot of sellers and pop up stores around the stadium with cheap fan items that you can purchase right before the game.
