Day trip
Suggestions for a ‘day out’, in and around Berry:
9.00am Breakfast - a two minute stroll away - at Queens Street Eatery. Best coffee in town.
10.30am. Jump in the car and drive 15 minutes to Shoalhaven Heads Surf Club. Park up, head to the beach. Turn right to walk to the mouth of the Shoalhaven River or turn left for miles and miles of beautiful sand.
12.00pm. Head back to the car park and have lunch at either Bangalay Dining (behind the car park) or Mountain Ridge Winery (5 minute drive away). If it’s a sunny day - I’d pick Mountain Ridge. You can sit outside with beautiful views over the rolling hills.
1.30pm. Drive 5 minutes or so to Two Figs Winery to try some more delicious local wines at their cellar door. Outstanding views over the Shoalhaven River.
2.00pm. Drive 15 minutes back to Berry and park up at the house. Stroll around the shops. Don’t forget the cute little Picnic Shed further down Princess Street.
3.30pm. Fancy a traditional cuppa? Or a taste of something more exotic? The Berry Tea Shop is a must - and their scones are delicious? If you want something a little stronger - pop into The Garden and have a glass of wine or a beer in their shady back yard. Or Il Gelato does amazing little ice creams.
4.30pm. Siesta time!
6.30pm. Dinner at the best restaurant on the South Coast, South on Albany, a two minute stroll from the house. Or for something more casual, try Bussola or the Hungry Monkey.
(Best to book ahead for lunch and dinner reservations as venues do get booked up.)
