Barton Springs pool is located west of downtown Austin and is a must see. It is a very large natural springs public pool. Swimming is allowed year round for a modest entry and parking fee. Water is always cold and refreshing. Fun just to walk around there too. It is located within Zilker Park.

The Veloway at Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park was constructed in the early 90’s and was the first facility of its kind in the United States. The Veloway is a 23’ wide, fully paved, 3.1 miles (5K) long bicycle tract that traverses the natural terrain. This is a recreational bicycle and inline skate track. All other uses, such as foot traffic or hiking, are prohibited. We taught our kids how to bicycle there. People travel from all over the metropolitan region to cycle here on a daily basis. It is free, but in April there is an event that closes the park. Check their website for more information.

The Veloway is a 23’ wide, fully paved, 3.1 miles (5K) long bicycle tract that traverses the natural terrain. This is a recreational bicycle and inline skate track. All other uses, such as foot traffic or hiking, are prohibited. We taught our kids how to bicycle there. People travel from all over the metropolitan region to cycle here on a daily basis. These are our favorite mostly local restaurants located in our area (with one exception). In other words this is where we like to eat out. Hope you will too.
Lovely small restaurant. Very good service. We like to go and order sake and appetizers on happy hour and we finish off with their Sashimi boat. Enough to feed 4 people, and usually costs us about $50/person. Also they have great Japanese dishes, sushi rolls, bento boxes, etc. Great value.
We really enjoy this Japanese fusion sushi and sashimi restaurant located in our area.

This is a local restaurant, that mostly only the locals know about around here. They have awesome margaritas, tortilla chips and salsa, and a great menu. We love the ceviche and everything else. Really inexpensive. With drinks we usually spend about $20/person.

In my opinion this may be the best Chinese in Austin. Not in our neighborhood. North Austin in direction of high tech industry and Asian communities. Still we love it and travel out of the neighborhood for it. Family style. Duck is fabulous. All hot pots excellent. Soups served family style. We think it is a great value and not expensive.

Rudy's BBQ competes with Schmidt's. Yes it is a gas station, with a huge restaurant, do don't let that deter you. Indoor picnic bench table seating with a large side room that we like to sit at. Sides are good. This BBQ is the whole
package. Their pork ribs and fatty brisket are the best. Cheaper than Schmidt's in my experience. It's on Capital of Texas Highway in the direction of Austin.

Cafe Blue is Seafood. Somewhat pricey, so we go at happy hour. Very nice dining room for a special dinner. Oysters are great here.

Excellent thin crust pizza, but take-out to eat home is what we do. Located in the same shopping center as the HEB on Highway 71. Their calzones are really tasty and plentiful, especially if you like to eat crusty dough stuffed with sauce and other ingredients.

Indoor and Outdoor walking malls and Shopping centers with lots of very nice shopping, spas, exercise, movie house and kid friendly outdoor plaza.
The Hill Country Galleria is a large walking mall but has lots of convenient parking both on-street as well as parking garages that are strategically located within the shopping area. It is most easily accessed from our location by taking Bee Cave Parkway to the right off of Bee Cave Rd. and then turning left into the shopping mall. The main entry is from Highway 71 and is also easy access. Hill Country has many good restaurants and lots of shopping. Many very nice brand name stores are located in this center. Additionally it includes a Whole Food grocery store, Dick’s sporting goods and Barnes and Noble. There is a Cinemark Theatre there with all the current movies showing. Tuesday matinee is their bargain rate.
