Great option for an outing, visit China Town in downtown Los Angeles. A short ride on the Gold Line Metro (station located Magnolia Ave., less than a mile away from the house). It is near the city's civic and cultural center, Chinatown is one of L.A.'s most popular tourist destinations. Chinatown great for dining and shopping. Pagoda-style buildings with red lanterns house traditional Chinese restaurants, dim sum houses and bakeries, plus specialty grocery stores and gift shops, and art galleries. There is also the Taoist Thien Hau Temple. Great place to wander and take fun colorful pictures. Also located in Chinatown is the landmark Philippe the Original, well known for its French dip sandwich.

Olvera Street in Los Angeles, is a historic district in downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles was officially founded in 1781, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument documents the early history of the city. Great shopping and eating to be found in the walkways, you can also frequently find live music and dancing in the square. The many small museums in the area are all worth looking at - including Fire Station 1, the first fire station in Los Angeles. Easy access via Metro Gold Line. Get off at the historic Union Station (make sure to walk around it looking at the architectural details) before crossing the street and walking the short distance to Olvera Street.

Small Town Vibe

Monrovia is a great "little city" with a laid back, traditional American small town vibe. Monrovia prides itself in its' community atmosphere. Events are planned throughout the year that are open to locals and guests alike. If you do not want to walk, parking spaces on Myrtle Ave. are limited, however behind the shops and restaurants, you will find plenty of parking.
