Favorite Cafés
I don’t know about you, but I’m a coffee snob. So here are my 3 favorite spots for coffee! The third one is one of the best spots to get some work done!
"Café Caracol Purpura" is one of our favorits! The spot is lovely, and they have a wide choice of coffees, teas, chocolate as well as an amazing chocolate-banana smoothy... They have 2 locations: one near Plaza de la Danza and the second one near the Sanchez Pascuas market.

Cafe Brujula on the pedestrian street (Macedonio Alcalá) close to the zocalo has a beautiful outdoor patio which is usually a quiet and cool place to get some work done all the while enjoying a cup of coffee. They also have great cakes!

Great place for stuffed quesadillas!! On weekends they also have barbacoa stands on the little square situated outside on the bottom part of the market. Try the "chocolate de agua" from the quesadilla stands or a fresh juice from the stands on the top!

This market is famous for its communal barbecue stands where you can grill the meat you buy on the spot. It’s a must see on Sundays, and an agreeable stop on the way to Mitla. Don’t forget to take a peep in the cute little church! It’s mind blowing.

This is my absolute favorite spot for brunch!!! Situated in the beautiful Xochimilco neighborhood, the cafe serves delicious Mexican brunch dishes with a twist!!

Wonderful vegan mole-tasting!! Beautiful cool patio, everything super fresh and super endemic of Oaxaca. The chef is a woman and a feminist who supports mostly female local producers. A must!
