Forest walks
Driving south on Oropi Road one will find signs to Otanewainuku Forest. There are 2 tracks to choose from. One (25 minutes) will lead to a waterfall, the other (45 minutes) will take you up the hill to a platform which rises above the canopy for views to the sea, and on a clear day the snow capped mountains beyond Rotorua. This is old New Zealand bush with a variety of large Tawa trees.
Oropi Hot Pools are a short distance away from us and offer a warm soak in a peaceful setting.
